In Loving Memory of Robert “Buddy” Hammond Jr., 78

Robert “Buddy” Hammond Jr., 78, went home to be with the Lord on April 26, 2025. Born on November 28, 1946, in Winter Haven, FL, Buddy was a longtime resident for most of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Darrell and Onzelle Hammond, and his brother, Gary Hammond.

He is survived by his daughter, Nikki Rudd; son-in-law, Jason Rudd; and grandchildren, Carson, Jake, and Mia. He is also survived by his sisters, Debbie Braxton, Inky Manning, and Beverly Woolery, as well as many beloved family members and friends.

A devoted father, grandfather, brother, and faithful servant of God, Buddy passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, music, and service. A proud veteran, he honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. His deep faith guided his life, and his passion for writing and playing the guitar brought joy to many. Most of all, he cherished his daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren, who were the light of his life. No matter how he felt, he would always say, “Fantastic!”

Buddy’s kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love will be deeply missed but forever treasured by those who knew him.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until the memorial service at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at First Baptist Church of Waverly.
