Structure Fire in Lake Wales Brought Under Control

A structure fire, originally reported as a commercial fire, was brought under control within about a half hour of Polk County Fire Rescue arriving on scene.

Katelyn Hoverkamp, Polk County Fire Rescue Public Information Officer, says that while the situation was brought under control, it is still under investigation.

“On 9/7/24 at approximately 10:01 a.m., PCFR was dispatched to a structure fire located at 6530 Fort Myers Dr. in Lake Wales.

“PCFR units arrived at approximately 10:07 a.m. and the fire was under control at 10:39 a.m..

“The fire was located in a garage type storage area attached to the residence. There were no injuries reported and no patients were transported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the FL State Fire Marshal’s Office.”
