Frostproof, Florida – The Polk County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched at 3:06pm to an accident at Hwy 630 at Scenic Hwy North in Frostproof, Sunday afternoon.
According to Brian Bruchey, Public Information Officer with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, two vehicles were involved in the crash. The vehicles were reported to be “ gray 2010 Kia Rio vs black 2016 Chevy pickup truck” per Bruchey.
It appears both vehicles were traveling in opposite directions when the Kia made a turn in front of the Chevy and the two collided.
One 16 yr old patient (a passenger) was transported by medical helicopter. According to Bruchey the only person transported to the hospital was the 16 Yr old.
The roadway was partially blocked, but reopened at around 4:25pm. The accident is still under investigation.
The PCSO has not released the name of the victims involved at this time.
