Lake Wales Police Charge Man With Attempted Murder In Knife Slashing Assault

Lake Wales Police arrest Benjamin Furman, DOB 4/4/1980, and have charged him with 2nd Degree attempted murder. According to a written affidavit by the LWPD Furman is accused of slashing another man with a box cutter on 8/19/2023.

According to the affidavit the suspect, Furman, went up to the victim, name not released, and immediately started to assault him. The victim initially was struck in the face and started struggling with the suspect. The suspect then allegedly pulled a box cutter and slashed the victim on the neck. A witness intervened and helped the victim. Eventually after being cut on the neck and left hand the victim was able to get away from Furman. The victim went to the hospital as Furman fled the scene. The victim received multiple stitches to his neck and hand.

Furman was eventually arrested this week. Furman is a habitual offender with nearly 20 arrest stemming from drug possession to assault.
