Lake Wales, Florida – A pickup truck flipped onto its side late Friday in the commercial parking lot near Rural King and McDonald’s, leading to the arrest of the driver, Jared Shane Brown, 22, of Lake Wales.
According to a Lake Wales Police Department arrest affidavit, officers were dispatched at approximately 10:18 PM (22:18) on October 31, 2025 to the parking lot at 1970 Highway 60 East after witnesses reported a rollover crash.
Witnesses stated that a white pickup lost control and overturned. Officers arrived to find the truck on its side. No injuries were reported, and no other vehicles were involved. Witnesses identified Brown as the driver.
According to a witness who spoke with the Lake Wales Daily, the truck was being driven erratically just before the crash. The witness said it appeared the driver was yelling and screaming at a female passenger inside the vehicle.
When officers made contact, Brown appeared impaired. According to the affidavit, Brown uttered that he had been drinking, and officers noted slurred speech and other signs consistent with alcohol impairment. Brown attempted brief roadside sobriety exercises and, according to the affidavit, struggled to follow instructions. He was placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence.
At the Polk County Sheriff’s Processing Center, Brown was asked to provide a breath sample. The affidavit states he initially refused. After being advised of Florida’s implied consent warning, Brown agreed but did not provide a valid sample. He was charged with DUI, Refusal to Submit to a Breath Test, and cited for an expired tag.
