Carol A. Durkin, 84
Carol A. Durkin of Lake Wales passed away Friday, April 11, 2025 at her residence.
She was born September 12, 1940 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Paul and Kathryn Berberich. Carol graduated with her Masters Degree from the University of Pittsburgh. She then taught American History at North Allegheny High School for 35 years. Carol moved to Lake Wales from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 2000. She was an avid golfer who enjoyed flower gardening and spending time with her cats.
Carol was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert W. Peel; second husband, James Durkin; and brothers, Paul Berberich, Jr. and William Berberich, Sr. She is survived by her step-daughter, Kathleen Klein and husband Frank of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; step-son, Thomas Durkin, Sr. and companion Joby of Lake Wales, James Durkin and wife Sarah of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; seven step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews including Diana Sull, Debra Bowser, Renee Berberich, William Berberich, Barbara Smith, and Patricia Bohnert.
A memorial service will be scheduled.
