
UPDATED 3/24/25 8:30 a.m.: Polk County Fire Rescue provided the following update this morning:
“It appears that when PCFR units arrived on scene on 3/23/25, units observed light smoke inside the building. The cause was believed to be due to an electrical issue.”
A structure fire, quickly determined to be classified a commercial fire, was extinguished rapidly this evening by Polk County Fire Rescue crews.
According to a PCFR representative, “On 3/23/25 at approximately 6:21 p.m., PCFR units were dispatched to 3044 Hwy 60 E (Citgo) in reference to a Structure Fire.
“Upon PCFRs arrival at 6:23 p.m., crews deemed the fire under control by 6:34 p.m. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. No injuries were reported and no patients were transported.”
Shortly after the fire was reported to be extinguished, the front door to the store was propped open and crew were seen going in and out of the business.
