City Awarded $282,380 Grant for Tower Boulevard Trail Project

Date:

The City of Lake Wales was awarded a $282,380 grant by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection Recreational Trails Program for the development of a new multiuse trail on Tower Boulevard.

Plans include the construction of a 12-foot-wide trail to connect Lake Wales Park Trail to Bok Tower Gardens. It is one of several trails in the Parks and Recreation master plan. Five park benches, trash receptacles, bike racks and directional signage will complement the trail.

Parks and Recreation Director Stephanie Lutton said, “We requested and will receive $282,380 in grant funds, and the city will contribute $70,595.”

Lake Wales was one of four communities awarded by the program.
