Today, Lake Wales, is Small Business Saturday. They Need Us More Than Ever.

Today is November 30, 2024. Many of us spent yesterday hunting down deals at big box stores, drinking coffee from national chains, and eating our meals from franchise restaurants. Black Friday is a telling day for the economy, for retailers, and for families preparing for the holidays.

Today, it’s time to shop a little smaller.

When we patronize our small businesses, particularly those in Lake Wales (whether in the City or in an unincorporated area), we’re literally keeping many of those dollars right here. Many of our friends and neighbors are business owners. They provide products and services we need and enjoy. There’re hardworking, resilient, and invested.

Today, I’m heading to a small family business for family photos.

Today, go out and consider spending a few dollars down the street. Cupcakes. Earrings for your mom. An embroidered shirt. A PVC joint to fix the sink. An antique bowl. A book and a cup of joe. A bouquet of flowers. Fresh produce. Farm eggs. Brick oven pizza. Do some thrifting. So many possibilities.

There’s way more than this that can be found.

Take a few minutes today and look. It won’t take you much time and you don’t have to break the bank.

But every dollar, and every customer, will be appreciated.
