UPDATE 7:21pm :
The Polk County Fire Rescue and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a multiple vehicle accident on Hwy 27 near Warner University in South Lake Wales on November 29, 2024. The original came in at about 6:16 pm.
Polk County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Brian Bruchey has confirmed that, “The crash involved an orange 2019 Ford Fiesta and a gray 2017 Dodge Journey.
“There may have been two other vehicles also involved,” but Bruchey could not confirm this information at this time.
All southbound US 27 was blocked for some period of time.
“The accident is currently blocking all Southbound lanes of Hwy 27 at this time. Multiple medical rescue units on scene and one vehicle has entrapment,” says Bruchey.
Polk County Fire Rescue PIO, Lauren McCall, has confirmed that “4 patients were transported from the scene. One of these patients had to be extricated from the vehicle. That vehicle sustained heavy damage.”
McCall added that one of the transported patients was a trauma alert. The patient could not be airlifted due to weather conditions at the time, and that individual, along with the other three patients, were all transported by ground.
