One Person Flees the Scene of Lake Wales Traffic Crash, Two Others Taken to the Hospital

Date:

At approximately 3:11 this afternoon on September 9, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office received a notification of a traffic crash at the location of Highway 27 and Penny Loop in Lake Wales.

PCSO Public Information Officer Meghan Perry advises that the notification came from an Apple Watch crash notification. PCSO and Polk County Fire Rescue responded to the scene.

The collision involved two vehicles, which at the time of publication were causing some road blockage on 27 near the intersection of Penny Loop. The northbound left lane is blocked with debris and law enforcement vehicles. The southbound left lane has debris.

PCFR confirmed that two patients have been transported to the hospital by ambulance.

A passenger of one of the vehicles fled the scene at the time of the crash, says Petty, and law-enforcement is currently looking for that individual.

Please avoid this area if possible, as there is debris in the roadway and possible continued lane blockage while the scene is being processed.
