Date:

Update: Polk County Fire Rescue public information officer, Katelyn HoverKamp, has advised that the evacuation order has been rescinded! Fire is under control.

The Lake Wales Daily is aware of a very bad brush fire at Hwy 27 & Lily Creek Way. The fire was reported at 4:53 pm. Currently 9 units are fighting the fire.

We can confirm that an evacuation order has been given, but firefighters are making great progress. We will update if this information changes.

“This is Polk County Fire. We are in the area of Lily Lakes Golf Course in Frostproof with a brush fire. If you are in the area west of Hwy 27 South of Hwy 98 in the roads off of Albritton/American Way/ Constitution In/Brandywine Trail/Freedom Trail please evacuate due to a brush fire in the area that is pushing west from the Lily Lake Golf CLub west from Hwy 27.

Please evacuate until an all clear is given for your safety.”
